1. I like using the horizontal type tool to create text, and then using the character panel to decide on the font, style, and size. I like double clicking on the text layer to add effects to the text.
2. In some cases the clipping masks for the text work great. They can give the text a very unique look. It is definitely a trick I will use in the future.
3. It took some time to get used to the pen tool, but now that I understand how to set good points and manipulate them I like it better than the quick selection tool. The pen tool creates smoother edges.
4. The shape tools are great if you are trying to create something abstract or simple. If the shape is too complex the shape tools are difficult to make work.
5. I like using smart objects because you can edit the layer independently of the composition, and I will probably use smart objects frequently in the future.
