project 7 - Ann Nickerson

I really enjoyed this project. I feel I’m starting to learn useful tricks to have fun making posters of the grandkids and creating projects for my business.

1. Please describe your preferred method of creating text and the layer effects to
make it stand out.

I like to make text with a good contrasting color then either bevel & emboss or give it an outer glow. I matched the smaller text to the color of the moon, and then added an outer glow to make it spooky.

2. In which way did you like results from using clipping masks for text and shapes?
Do you think you will use them in future projects? Why or why not?

I like using clipping masks so I didn’t have to open 2 projects and drag from one to another. I also like that it’s not destructive to the image.

3. What was your experience using the pen tool to create selections? Were you able to modify your selection with the path adjustment tools?

I think the pen tool is great. I like the easy adjustments using the path adjustment tools.

4. What challenges did you experience using the shape tools? Did you create a custom shape? What was it?

I created a custom(?) shape by creating a 4 point star and then adjusting the length of it points.

5. How will you use Smart Objects in future projects?
I hope to use smart objects to simplify using pictures that are in different resolutions. I’d like to redo my pirate picture with objects so I can make a poster with it.

6. What keyboard shortcuts are you using regularly now?
Still keeping it simple: Save, select deselect.
