:: Gallery ::1. Even though I'm not all that happy with the text I created for this project (something about the font just looks kinda mall-core? I dunno) it was fun to work with. I'd never typed along a path before this assignment, so that was cool to learn. For type, my favorite layer fx are "emboss" and "contour", which give it that 3D effect.
2. I've only ever used masks for text in Flash before now, and I'm really stoked to know how to do it in Photoshop! I think I definitely will use this method a lot in the future.
3. This was my first time using the pen tool as well, and I think I will really like it once I get more practice under my belt.
4. I don't think I've ever found the shape tools "challenging" exactly, I just don't like using them as much other tools. I did create a custom shape, but just as a sort of composition guide to decide where I wanted to place the image parts... the shape isn't visible in the completed image.
5. I'm actually still not totally clear on what the benefits of Smart Objects are, exactly... But I guess I prefer my images to not be stupid? ;)
6. Man, I really oughta start using shortcuts more often...
OH also I just realized I forgot to post my favorite image from last week, so here you go... I guess it's a self-portrait? Haha:
